Overview

It's murder looking for the woman with the golden spider earrings, but nothing will stop Nero Wolfe, because the young lad who innocently enlisted his help to find her has been killed. His dying wish is that all of his money--$4.30--be used to retain Wolfe to find the woman, whom he thought was in danger. But as the detective and his assistant, Archie Goodwin, get deeper into the case, two more murders reveal a blackmail racket and a host of other illicit activities.
