This book is worth listening to because it makes some great points: 1. We are in the drivers' seat when it comes to choosing who we want to spend time with during our lives. 2. There is reason to be optimistic about being able to find great people rather than with people who disappoint or hurt us. 3. Life is short, so the time you spend with person X is the time you cannot spend with person Y. Make good choices and they will reward you 10 fold. However, she makes some points that I don't agree with and I think are counter-productive: 1. Conceptualizing of ourselves as needy of others' attention. 2. Rejecting everyone who is not perfect (everyone is human). It suggests drawing a line in the sand where some people are in and others out.
this book is good, as long as you look past the peppy reader: plenty of great insights. you'll appreciate the terrific people around you and get yourself a little more terrific.
This was a fantastic book! A must for everyone working on attracting good things into there lifes!
In an industry where networking with contacts it essential, Dr. Glass lays out some fundamentals for improving those associations.
I guess I should have gone out and talked to some terrific people rather than listening to this book. There were some reasonable and practical suggestions, but I walked away with the general feeling of, "aaahhhnnnn?" Maybe it would have been a better "read" than "listen."
Self-help books are always a roll of the dice. This one, while abridged, could have been even more so. Drop out an entire CD of breathing and annunciation instruction and there are a few self-esteem gems. Don't pass it up, just rent, listen, don't hesitate to fast forward through the patented stuff and the breathing exercises, take a few meaning full notes and return. Good book for short trips to the grocery or a quick work out.
If your waiting for great insights..forget it. Good reasons to meet terrific peoples for 3 chapters than other weird techniques in detail that are either well known or strange..breathing exercises for a chapter..oh well fast forward thru some and then return it
