Not Very Useful

I've been studying Spanish for a couple of years now. This book is not really of much use. I did like all the help with pronunciation, but as far as learning even the basics of a polite exchange in Spanish, it's pretty much useless.

Maybe I picked the wrong book, but I tried to listen to this and was so frustrated by how many times it makes you repeat the same word over and over that I couldn't get past the first cd. If you have any background in Spanish at all, I think you should look for something a little more advanced.

Very Good.

I liked this book so well, I listened to it 5 or 6 times so I could get it down. It was presented in a conversational format. I would love more like this. I was very satisfied with this book. My only druther is that it was so short - 6 lessons - and they didn't cover as much as I would like.

It worked

I got this audiobook as preparation for a trip to Cuba, and it worked! Can't say I passed as a local, but the little I learned proved invaluable. I even got taken to the police station in Havana for a traffic offense, and I became the unofficial spokesperson for our little group of travelers. We escaped without a ticket :)

Pimsleur's Spanish - Not so quick, but very simple

This is for the beginner who doesn't know Si and No. The first 30-minute lesson introduces 3 or 4 phrases and maybe 10 words. The 2nd lesson starts with a review of the 1st, then introduces just a few more words, and so on. I fast-forwarded through the whole thing in 45 minutes, and was totally bored. Don't bother with this unless you like to repeat the same words over and over, and you're a level 0 beginner - oh! and extremely patient!
